patreon isn't going to cover these types of expenses. Reddit is one of the most visited websites on this planet, that's millions of dollars spent on hosting. For now, donations need to work, but in the very near future, they're going to either have to take venture capital or get some serious crowdfunding initiative. Remember, venture capital isn't necessarily bad, but @atko has to find an investor that shares the vision of transparency... Kinda hard to do that sort of search when you're working a full time job
