I'm not associated with VOAT in any way but generally the increased regulatory & legal requirements make this sort of investment not worth it. I believe this is the main reason you don't see equity ever offered in crowdfunding.

VOAT could IPO as a penny stock, place X% in the owners hands in a non-dilutable amount, and write the charter to require the protection of VOAT's original values. It would cost about $150,000 all put together

You do realize that voat is currently siphoning off users from reddit which is a site that has shown hostility to trump supporters. Can you imagine if a hedge fund like Soros's caught wind off this?? They would absolutely tank the stock, or they would buy it up and control @atko. Venture capital is an immensely better choice at this stage.

Unless the company has unforeseeable and costly litigation that owners cannot afford, then they'll just be bankrupt with the same effect
