puttitout has responded officially to my query about the missing honeypot/trap statement.

legally the words can be construed in different ways, and the statement wouldn't hold up with the rest.

hopefully, intelligent heads can come together and find the words in legalese to make this addendum a solid statement and get it up on the canary.

in any case, ALL data going through u.s. cables goes into NSA harddrives. ALL of it. webcams, audio and video from cellphones, emails, your porn. ALL of it gets recorded for an a.i. to go through and flag for human checking.

THAT SAID

the canary protects US in that it tells us that SPECIFIC things are being done to voat, if it dies - - which is a double edged sword, the more items we add, the less chance they'll do anything without us knowing, but also, the more items we add, the less sure WHICH of those things it is that just happened; it doesn't tell us about the general dragnet that is our nsa data collection program today, nor does it tell us if voat is a trap/honepot (although that's not been standard on any canaries i've ever seen)

In theory would a group of specific canaries solve this problem? Have a dedicated post with various bits of copypasta about each thing that gets posted every 4 weeks. If one canary dies that way, the rest don't go?
