While an upgrade is appreciated... why is there a limit in the first place? I'm new to Voat so if someone could explain I would appreciate it!

To encourage new members to participate instead of just being bystandards. Gives incentive to comment .

I'm not sure that really answers my question. By limiting voting you're giving incentive to comment? Does the limit reset after you've commented? Like I said, I'm a Voat noob lol.

Im pretty new here too and probably doing a shitty job explaining it. Commenting doesn't guarantee that you get to your 20 point threshold but if you were to never comment then you would never be able to upvoat more than 10 things per day.

I think the assumption is people want to upvoat the things they agree with or like and they want to have to ability to give out more voats. For this to be accomplished they would have to meet some sort of minimum contribution to the site through commenting and meeting the "comment contribution" where as otherwise they may have never been inclined to participate.

I apologize if this isn't coherent. I tried.

I think I understand it a bit better now. Thanks!
