Private Sub Outcome
I wanted to post a follow up to the Let's talk Private Subverses. After reading and rereading the comments about the idea of implementing Private Subverses, it is obvious the thought was not popular (to say the least), was of limited perceived value, and violated the essence of Voat.
For these reasons we will not be putting resources into developing out this feature.
So, what to take away from this? Well first I just have to give credit where credit is due. Goats saw risk and potential for misuse with this feature and thus were against it out of principle. That says something for this community, where our heads are at and what values we hold. It makes me proud.
I also want to thank everyone who commented to let me know your thoughts, even days later. It’s good to get everyone’s feedback even if your thoughts were already expressed by another user. So, thank you to all those 'late to the party' commenters (I sort comments by new
so I see you guys).
Bad ideas are bad. So that’s that. And that’s how it’s supposed to go if you ask me.
New Bits Soon
We have to push up a new version of Voat soon. The preview/development code and the production code are too far apart (code drift) and need to be synchronized.
The preview code has two very large features: Voting and Packages. Both of these features still need a bit more love before we release them, so when we update Real Voat, they will be turned off.
Since they are such large features, even when turned off, they may introduce issues with the website, so I just wanted to let everyone know we may have a hiccup or two. Buckle up goats. TODO: Make joke about how Voat is Forever Beta (FB).
I will update this thread with information regarding this update. It will happen sometime this week.
And happy Monday!

It's hilarious looking at people saying "Voat is doomed" because of the private subverses post, getting upvoted by the majority, and when I said that was an over-reaction I get downvoted.
And now here we are...

That post was the end of Voat as we know it (for the thousandth time).
