I most sincerely hope you only ever use shadowbanning to combat spam. Reddit's approach was to passive-aggressively stealth ban people for the slightest of infractions, like voting in linked threads because of "brigading" which at worst should deserve a virtual slap on the wrist and a stern message from an admin. It's a very clumsy tool to deal with intricate, subtle issues, and it's very clearly (in my mind) one of the biggest things reddit does wrong. So I applaud you for doing it in a way that's transparent and leaves very little room for abuse. Seriously, thank you, and this is why I love voat. :)

Getting banned from v/aww stops one from posting in v/aww, I thought that was obvious. Spam is subjective but the moderator of v/aww is referring to the advertisement variety. v/whatever has no moderation, it's not full of porn & loli because we have subs for that. The voat community self moderates. The system works well. I'm not trying to avoid your argument it's just this is an old conversation to be having on voat. Removing content is censorship, maybe someone finds gore adorable and feels it belongs in v/aww.
