When I worked at a nuclear plant back in the 90s, they used a Modcomp computer system, built in the 70s. They had recently upgraded the hard drive; it had been the size of a washing machine, and the new one was about toaster-sized.
The file system was flat -- there were no directories, every files was in the "root directory".
I remember there being a program to test ACLs (access control lists) with. It was somewhat generically named -- but the name that the author chose, when pronounced, caused those within earshot to chuckle. (Apparently, the virus affect those little orbs...)
