Personally I think it depends on culture, some Native tats I accept but overall I think its dumb personally. If your kid was a tattoo artist and died ok maybe get a small tat as tribute or if you were out there in the war with your buddies maybe get some tat but most people who get them regret it as soon as the ink is dry, why do you think expensive laser removal is so popular? If you are in Japan only the Yazuka have tats, if they see a tattoo on you then youre barred, thrown out and banned from clubs, restaurants, hot springs etc The only places that can only accept you are the Yakuza style clubs full of nasty people who might hate your guts because you are not Native Japanese, that's people's 'God given right' to to be stuck in some shit hole part of Tokyo or Osaka filled with mafia just because you were fucking stupid enough to cover your dumb self in tattoos.
