My senior year of high school except due to federally forced busing causing riots I was doing my first year of junior college instead. Working at a gas station and trying to enjoy life before enlisting in the Air Force.
Surfing, riding my motorcycle, chasing women, trying not to get strung out like so many frens, living the good hippie lifestyle as much as a broke young teen could.
Was wondering why Society was so screwed up, riots and war and lies and it just kept getting worse.
I surfed mainly down at Galveston, you could get little rolling waves that would take you a mile down the beach but except for when storms were coming in we didn't see big waves. So we made sure to hit the beach every storm, get real waves...
Hells yeah it's a small world, we used to run out on the end of the Flagship and jump in with our boards. If you were there late 60s, early 70s you mighta chased us.
I don't go down there anymore, they lost me decades ago when they first banned footballs and frisbees on the beach. Then a Buddy of mine was camped on the beach and he stepped out of his tent on Sunday morning with a beer, GPD gave him a ticket for having alcohol before noon on Sunday, glass bottle too.
But back when we could drive down west beach and park on the seawall for free, camping out in the old gun bunkers even...yeah, we surfed a lot down there.
I haven't been on the old pier since Fertita built his stuff on it, he charges you just to walk out there now. We used to love getting a room there on the 4th of July, watch the fireworks over the water.
Bolivar is gone so only Surfside is still there for a good beach these days.
15 Yrs old Male then... Shocking my whole small town with my Glam Rock outfit, and Riding on the backseat of a Friends Harley Fat Boy with my electric Guitar strapped on my back. No drugs at all back then, just tripping from the Music itself! Yep, that was possible. Ggg
I had just met my wife, and we was into our first year of dating. She was 15 at the time and on her schools dance team. I was a newly appointed assistant DA in Etowah AL. I was 32 and had just graduated law school.

You're probably right, but hey - we need a little distraction/kind conversation while waiting for the real presents from Q, right? Good year by the way :-)
I had hundreds of pictures of David Cassidy on my bedroom walls. One of my best friends was a Bobby Sherman fan and we were always arguing about which one was cuter.
Yes, Sherman was really popular in 1969-70. That's when my friend and I used to argue about him and Cassidy. The teen magazines were filled with pics of both along with Susan Dey from The Partridge Family. We both used to spend the money we earned from babysitting to buy those stupid magazines. What a waste. lol
No, I was raised by parents who was, and music in my home was typically; David Cassidy, Barry Manilove both my mothers favorite and my dad listened to David Bowie, Queen and Electric light Orchestre! And together they had a thing for Phil Collins, Olivia Newton John and Earth, wind and fire! hahaha that were the days......
The current hit song was "I'm 18" so ya use it often at least 18 times every 18 days In 1972 I was 17 until July mid July I was 18 Went just to say "I saw Alice Cooper" on my 18th Birthday.
Killer tour for sure but with the "hanging" Every body in the crowd was high on something, people spazzing out. Outside in Nashville at the speedway. We had qualuudes but regret not having LSD. I stay straight "designated driver". It seems I was "always straight" now that I think about it. No on who was opener, Thinking it was "Wet Willy" not 100%
Never seen Black Oak. I still have the concert ticket I will pull it and see who opened. Nashville Fairgrounds had an out door concert that had ZZ Top, REO Speedo , J. Giles, Eagles, Steppen Wolf, Stillwater "My daddy was a Gibson" Charlie Daniels Band as well. LSD is scary for sure, it is a poison and you pay a lot in gut cramps. Only way to do LSD is with people you trust. I love weed and have spent so much $$$$$ over the years, stopped about 3 years ago > just no one selling close by<
I was in college, smoking weed and getting hepatitis. In my spare time I was shitting all over the dreams of the greatest generation by ushering in civil rights, fag rights, and the welfare state.

That's actually a poignant comment. I surfed a lot too, when there were waves.

Lol, I surfed at the Flagship and 61st Street (when there was waves), was a bellhop at the Flagship for a couple years!
Small world!

Yes, we go to Surfside nowadays. But I don't surf anymore. Had no idea they banned frisbees and footballs!
I surfed in Port Aransas (now that's a great beach to camp on), and my friends used to go to Port Isabel (I'm sure you're familiar).
But yes, only in the winter were there really any waves (I avoided the hurricane ones, too chicken).
Man, back then was so different.

I actually got my son into the 60s 70s music. He loves it. I think it was under rated. He plays guitar and that era is his favorite to play.

Were you a David Cassidy fan?
21875469? ago
I had hundreds of pictures of David Cassidy on my bedroom walls. One of my best friends was a Bobby Sherman fan and we were always arguing about which one was cuter.
21875543? ago
I remember those days (I wanted to be David Cassidy and even got a shag cut in '72).
I think Sherman was big in late sixties (Cassidy replaced him), and then Donny replaced David.
I read his book (he was a bit proud of himself).
My brother waited on Sean at a gas station.
Sad about David drinking himself to death.
21875743? ago

21875791? ago
Hey little woman..come into my world and leave your world behind..
I would borrow the mags from girlfriends, to take to the salon so they would do my new shag correctly lol.
In '75 I bought genuine Pooka shells from Hawaii to match Cassidy's. Still have them.
21874781? ago

Had a big crush on Olivia. The ELO guy is still touring. Cassidy died recently.
That's quite an eclectic group.

I was around sixteen when I saw it.

The "welcome to my nightmare " tour

That's right, the hanging, started to say that cause that's what I thought I remembered.
Yeah, lots of weed. I never did acid, too scary.
Black Oak Arkansas opened (south Texas).

Nah, that was more mid and late sixties. Manson and Altamont Speedway Stones concert killed most of the peace and love off by then. Not all though.
Something tells me you are being less than honest.
