Now, let's say you're right, and they are making further alterations. The only solution is to obtain control of, or start, a seed laboratory and only give the grain the needed resistances for production. And frankly, although I can see a company like Pioneer doing some jewy shit like that, I very much doubt that the smaller companies are. That would be a major waste of their money and they have no motivation to do it in the first place.

It's fiercely competitive and although Pioneer has a big market share, they can't afford to jack up their prices to pay for shady genetic research if they intend to keep it.
