Had a conversation with a friend a few months ago in which he shared a really neat perspective, "attention is love."
That which you give your attention to, shows your regard for it. People want to help other people grow, which ties into it; people tend to give more attention to that which they want to see grow. Like in the acts of gardening, or child rearing.
The shills here help us hone our skills: to do better in debate with family and friends, or coworkers or in a public setting. They are helping us to grow.
The shills love us. They might violently disagree, but there is quite a bit of evidence, in their behavior.

They might just love money. I was mistaken for a shill awhile back, because I guess I can be a silly ass. Someone asked me "Working hard or hardly working?" He thought I was a "co-worker". I think some of them are getting paid and the reason the shill posts get so bad in late afternoon evening EST is because the worst ones have day jobs and shill after.
