No Parking on Capitol Hill

One big perk of being a staffer is getting to leave your car in secure Hill parking for free over the weekend if you fly home to see your family. Since pretty much all of us live in the horrible neighborhoods around Capitol Hill, it's nice to leave your car in a safe place other than the side of a street where it will get destroyed or vandalized.

This morning I went to drop my car off so I could metro to Reagan and Secret Service had the entrance blocked off and told me the lot was closed, which is VERY unusual because it's open 24/7 and I haven't seen it shut, even on Christmas day, the whole time I've been here.

No idea what it means, but the SS was telling people to get lost and not the Hill police which would be standard. The staffer text chain was FILLED with lots of WTF is going on. I didn't see anything outside of the SS stopping people though, at least nothing unusual.

This is on top of a notice on Friday that our email will be down from Saturday night at 8pm to Sunday morning at 8am for some sort of update, but I've never seen anything like that before.

I'm about to step on a plane, but I'll be around to answer questions later today.

THANK YOU THANK YOU! I got fooled by that. I'm the one that did the time stamps and couldn't figure out how the OP on that thread saw armored cars if he was on a plane outta there. Bless you - one thousand upvotes. Now I'll watch for that. Thanks autist!
