There has been a lot of talk about Red October. Most people have been exposed to that phrase due to the book/movie "The Hunt for Red October" about a fictional Soviet submarine. Why would the Russians name a sub Red October? It is a very important piece of Communist history. It represents the beginning of Russian Revolution. It is like when people in the US refer to 1776. It was the start of the end of the Czar and the establishment of the Communist Party as a political force in their country.

If we think in traditional red associations the most common the past 100 years has been referring to communism. Since no more USSR then it probably means China.
