Hello all,
I feel obligated to make this post after consulting in private with @MadWorld about what has been going on in the past few days on Voat and specifically, on v/ProtectVoat.
Disclaimer 1: So far most of Voat's community has expressed their dislike with the loli content that has been shared on our community in the past week or so. However, as defendants of Freedom of Speech we recognize that the content is not illegal and hence has a right to stay up. This despite of our feelings towards it's nature and the (((nature))) of the law that protects it.
Disclaimer 2: I have done my best to remain objective to the situation that was brought up by user theoldones and have paid close attention to all his postings. However I have to say that after reviewing all that I have put my eyes on, I do not like where this is going.
Disclaimer 3: This is a simple and objective analysis based on all the information and I will only post my conclusions based on that information. Nothing more, nothing less. Some may be suppositions as it is impossible to prove them perse with concrete evidence but those assumptions will be based on the information I was provided.
Background: 20 days ago user MadWorld posted a good compilation of information on suspicious links being shared on Voat that showed some relation with certain users. Relevant post: https://voat.co/v/ProtectVoat/3001782. Amongst those users, theoldones's name showed up. His reaction to the situation was abrupt and impulsive, and also showed a lack of objectivity to study the evidence provided by the OP of that post.
In my intent to show him that his reaction wasn't the best way to proceed I was able, without him knowing so, to help him prove that he had no intention of sharing this harmful content. Relevant post: https://voat.co/v/ProtectVoat/3005178. I also tried using an analogy on this one to help him understand the situation he was on: https://voat.co/v/BloodOfEurope/3003627/16469621/10#16469621.
To sum up his position was that he was being called "guilty or suspected guilty" and that he had no knowledge that the links were suspicious. Which is understandable but again he didn't know what to look for to see why the sites were suspicious, even after all the evidence was presented by MadWorld. I will show why this is relevant after.
theoldones created several posts regarding his tests, these two are relevant:
In these posts he explains his test what he described as 9000 lvl of autism however I find hard to believe it has any level of autism at all.
His bot test seems to be quite off because of the following:
- He claims that he baits the bots to downvote him when he post things that require the user not do do something. Example: User X don't respond if you are human.
My problem with this is that any sane person that gets a ping from another user here commanding them not to do or do something well it will just trigger an opposite response. For example if he had ping me and requested (should I say demanded from me) that I did not respond if I am human I would probably downvote the stupid demand/request. To me that is a normal response.
- I checked his test post and the image he put regarding his tabulation:
There is no order in this and the "compiled" data has no variables that even make sense: https://files.catbox.moe/1pg61f.pngPNG. However I indulge the guy and kept reading the posts. The downvotes he has gotten from the users he pings to me they seem fairly reasonable. I mean I get ping by dumb and random messages in anon subs and I simply downvote because of two reasons:
1- I don't want to be ping for stupid things.
2- I find anons to be a bunch of faggots.
- Remember when he freaked out because of the report MadWorld did about suspicious links? His reply was how would he know that they were suspicious if they had no warnings or something.
My doubt here is, if he didn't know what to look for to see if they were or not fake news, if after the report his reaction was quite exaggerated and instead of reviewing the evidence and figure out why the links were suspicious, how is he going to apply what he needed to apply then, to this particular situation? How is he going to be able to do a complete and objective analysis of his so called findings? How is he going to justify the validity and legitimacy of his test to others?
MadWorld agrees with me that his analysis is far off and I quote:
Any normal user would get pissed off with the way he was testing for bots. I had the same reaction as you did when I first saw his data. He did not define how he measured the response from the test or if he did anything to minimize potential interference from genuine users. I found his initial report a bit useless. It was more of a path that he bridged, for his already concluded outcome. He already had eyes on those users from one of his previous submissions. That had already predefined his bias against those users and clouded his judgement. Having bias, knowledge, or gut feeling on someone is not necessarily a bad thing. But when a person does the experiment, variables should be defined as clearly as possible.
After he posted that report, I went to check on the data and found that only 5 users had changes to their downvote scp. So users in his "group 2" did not do anything to downvote his submissions. They did not all stopped reacting to his posts because he "exposed" them, they never did to begin with. If he cannot provide any reasonable proof to the other users on his list, it should have been noted, to minimize potential misleading on his readers.
In one of his last posts: https://voat.co/v/whatever/3038999, he directs once again his attacks to @Obrez. I was interested about the answers he would provide to defend himself of the accusations theoldones was making and was able to interact sufficiently with him and check all his proofs that I found him not to be irrational nor ill intended. So I answered this and requested more information about theoldones testing: https://voat.co/v/whatever/3038999/16823485 - you guys can check the following responses to see where my doubts started to appear.
In my correspondance with MadWorld I shared the following conclusions:
- User Obrez has a perfect and reasonable response to the apparent harassment of user theoldones.
- The bot test is not valid and I should argue that it's basis is completely stupid.
- User theoldones seems to be a bit off and from all the parties is the one acting the most irrationally.
- User theoldones appears to try to cure or to repair his reputation that he thinks was hurt after MadWorld's report.
- I told him that his crusade against pedos and loli posters though it is a good cause he is not doing it for the sake of the community but for himself, at that time I couldn't see why, but after reading all this nonsense I think I am not far off on my conclusion: https://voat.co/v/whatever/3031746/16733896 - on the part I say to him: You my friend, though you have good intentions, you do your works for your name. To glorify yourself as being a good fellow. And though the cause of your fight is righteous (against the pedophiles) you do it for your own benefit.
- User Obrez hasn't reacted irrationally and his responses to my questions and his disposition to share proof of his statements show that he is justified.
- Obrez's activity is suspicious due to the longevity of his account and low activity: I specify this here - https://voat.co/v/whatever/3038999/16823485 - when I say: Obrez, you need to understand that your activity is suspicious to us because of your longevity and the fact that your posts haven't been consistent, not in their nature, but in the frequency. Your justification seems fair but I don't see why you would not stay on voat and 8chan at the same time? If you collaborate in their activity why not do so on voat also? This is a reasonable doubt I have and though your answer stated before that it was because Voat wasn't as active then as it is now, this is something I tend to distrust for the fact that if the users didn't collaborate in the community the community would never grow. See my point there? - however this doesn't imply that he is guilty of anything and hence he has a right to be defended.
I make this post for two reasons:
-
Objectivity ought to be the basis of any report, even when reporting anyone that we don't like. Proofs and argumentation have to be the forms in which we perform our reporting.
-
Any user falsely accused has a right to be defended and hence I believe with this post all users accused of boting by theoldones are vindicated.
Especial note: theoldones your intentions may appear good to you, but so far what I have witnessed is convenience. I am sorry but I can't support the claims you are extending about the other users when they are showing a perfectly human response to what is most apparent to be harassment from your part. In multiple occasions I have asked you to be objective but you have proved that it is not the case. I support any denunciation of the degenerate loli posters as pedofiles and hebephiles because that is what they are. However as their content is legal we have no right to censor it. Sadly that is the reality of it.
More information could be provided but if the rest of the community read the entirety of the posts and comments linked in this publication, they will see that nothing has been modified and that they can draw their own conclusions.
theoldones please stop harassing users that confront you.

My suspicion is it's a combination of competing botters/forum sliders with a few real users getting caught up.
They want to try to get voaters to pick sides when both sides need the oven. @theoldones seems to think he can memory hole his suspicious activity by starting a witch hunt against loli-posting weebs.

What's most suspicious about this shit is that any of you condone SBBH having any hand in objective "investigation" considering just how divisive and childish they tend to be.
They make all of us look bad and they do it consistently. I'm far from thinking they should be banned or not allowed to come here, but we certainly shouldn't give them much, if any, attention and even less often should we be listening to them when they try to pit us against each other. I mean, it's not like they don't do it with each successive iteration of Reddit migration. For instance, we seem them shun new people and tell them to fuck off endlessly despite having just mentioned that we should gas the Jews and redpill the normies.
