First off, I'd like to thank all of the support and uplifting comments I've received since my return the other day. It means a lot, and it is encouraging to see so many people who share in my hobby. It's a hell of a feeling, and I'm very grateful for it.
That being said, there are a couple of things I want to address:
1) I'll be slowly updating the CSS, sidebar, and subverse rules throughout the week. It's going to be coming in bits and pieces, but I'm hoping to have everything polished by the end of the year. Please be patient!
2) The reasons I left in the first place are still present, and if I'm to bring my content back every day, I'll have to deal with those reasons. I'm sure at least most of you reading this are familiar with that whole episode. Obviously, not all of you will enjoy this bit, but it's my condition. The rules will be updated (see first point), and then they will be enforced. For a long time I advocated a 'hands off' policy and let the community exercise its right to downvote content that didn't belong. For a long time that worked. Unfortunately, there came a time when it didn't, and the sub started to host content it was never meant to. I didn't want to deal with the backlash of actually having to enforce my own rules, especially since I remember quite well what happens when the brown-shirts in places like /v/ProtectVoat round up a posse and pick you out as a target, so I left.
The moral of the story is: the rules will now be enforced at the moderators' discretion. If you don't like this on principle, you don't have to stay. This isn't a default sub. This is a niche sub that was created for a niche crown of enthusiasts, and my mods and I have no obligation to cater to anyone and everyone who walks in the door. We will protect the content and keep things relevant. We tried to be nice, and (some of) you took it too far.
Also, if you simply don't like the concept of moderation, and this makes you angry, and in the next week you deliberately push the envelope in this sub, just to push our buttons, then you do not get to complain about it and be taken seriously. I'm not playing that game. It's a waste of my time and it has nothing to do with history, so bye Felicia.
3) I think a massive expression of gratitude is in order for those who took it upon themselves to keep the sub afloat, most notably @skyrock and @justintoxicated. I would also like to thank them. So thank you.
4) I'm glad to be back. I missed almost all of you. You guys are like family.

I stand corrected then. Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

Given that the subverse didnt deteriorate to SBBH in your absense, I think we can consider the historical precedent not in your favor.
daskapitalist ago
Reddit said the same thing. Remember that just because a subverse can censor its content, doesn't mean it should just because we're afraid of having our feelings hurt by wingnuts shouting about "da j00z!!!1!1" or whatever the flavor of the month foolishness is.
daskapitalist ago
When you start comparing everyone who opposes censorship to Nazis, I feel like I need to mention a certain modern history anecdote about "everyone is responsible for their own soul", and where that led.
Let's not let distaste for people with different viewpoints lead to demonizing our canaries and creating a safe space. Because the last thing we need is a flood of [deleted] because we can't all deal with seeing ideas we disagree with.

Yaaaay! We missed you, Locke!

I'm glad you're back. I wish you had thicker skin, but if things got to you, then so be it. I see the more radical voices on Voat as our canaries. If they are here, it shows that the site truly has free speech, so I kind of appreciate them, even when I don't like what they say. Who am I to talk though, when I've never put found myself in their crosshairs? This is kind of your sub and I've enjoyed the content, since the beginning. Feel free to moderate things. I'm looking forward to some interesting tidbits of history!

more like a useful fool.

In a sense, the right to enforce house rules qualifies as freedom of speech.

i shall continue to remind people that you're part of the sjw cabal,
for example: you can't take a simple ribbing. you have to have your "revenge"
clearly, an sjw.
@first_post_king is an sjw part of the takeover-cabal and hates it when his fee fees get hurt. he goes vehemently after anyone who downvoats him, or forgets to periodically suck his dick for the free work no one asked him to.
SaneGoatiSwear ago
no no,
fuck you.
know why?
because fuck you!
SaneGoatiSwear ago
remember @lockeproposal @middle_path and other awesome niche content providers, you are the fucking meat on the plate of voat. fuck these niggers like the sjw cabal at v/protectvoat all of them. the fucking cynas the fuzzys (she),the disappointeds, the kevduds, the first post kings, fuck ALL of them.
you be you and fuck the rest, man.
the sjws are always gonna try to bring down freedom, because they'll never have it due to such warped mentalities, they're envious and want to tear down those that have it.
be free, enforce or not enforce your rules, w/e. ENJOY 8)
also, fuck the anti-pizzagate shills (like webofslime kingkong falcon and phobos)

I dont comment much on this sub but i absolutely love all your posts. Thank YOU for the wonderful story telling and the amazing gift of knowledge.

Nah, I just blocked this subverse. Don't see why I shouldn't call bullshit, though. Shit like this is why I left reddit.
If he's so concerned about "his" community, he should set a minimum ccp to downvoat so "his" subverse is removed from /v/all.
Laurentius_the_pyro ago
Just blocked the subverse too, I like @LockProposal 's content but I will not support the kind of censorship of people questioning of official narratives, pushed by the moderation team. Not to mention the whole "PV are all literally evil nazis because they disagreed with me on the internet"
Lock showed his true colors when he threw a tantrum and fucked off back to Reddit, and now he's bringing the censorship back here, I honestly used to like him but the way he handled this entire situation is just beyond disgraceful, yet people defend these actions because he posts cool stories, but for me that doesn't out way cancer moderation.
This his his subverse and he is free to drive it into the ground however he likes, doesn't mean I need to be around here to watch.

I missed you, I followed you on ceddit as a mute. Thank you for returning... WarHistory needs a Shepard, I kept it alive and relevant.........

Welcome back!
Moderate as you see fit. Fuck em if they don't like it.
middle_path ago
I'm glad you made this decision. Most people think the mods should be hands off, but I think that's quite silly. People can easily brigade a small sub and upvoat unrelated discussion and links. Then they scream Freezed peach when you ban them. It's silly. Niche subs are just that. Don't like them or the mods actions, GTFO and make your own sub.
derram ago
Oh good, creative writters who think the world should cater to their views because it's our responsibility to make sure you're happy with everything.
Wouldn't want to ruin your Voat experience.

Good. Keep up the great work!
