Dorian is estimated to hit Florida and then move inland. As we've seen in the past, even if the wind is not as severe, additional rainfall and the push from coastal water floods in and the water raises flooding rivers, inlets up inland. It can cause major damage. Trump is right to warn them to be prepared.

Well, if the steering winds do not turn it North when expected, AL will definitely be impacted.

If it crosses FL and hits the Gulf, there will be real trouble.

The ESA projection, which is supposed to be the best, just a couple days ago had it doing exactly that and going right up Alabama. Trump likely saw the same projection everyone else saw before it all took a hard right and gained force. We are getting to see what happens when different teams are fighting for control of the same hurricane.

I'm not saying Trump doesn't always have a reason from what he is saying, but, depending on landfall, hurricanes can often spawn tornados much farther inland as it passes up coast depending on wind sheers..
