Reddit uses "fuzzing" to alter the displayed number of votes cast and alter what ends up being displayed at the top. They also decided to stop displaying up/downvote ratios. Their rationale for doing so was to "confuse spambots" but that makes little sense and it does make it suspiciously easy for them to promote shills from behind the scenes.
While that certainly helps if there needs to be another migration, do we have access to their servers to check they're actually running binaries compiled from those sources without alteration?

yeah hes using the 'i confused' lines, indeed and subtle version of the same thing will be Voat's path.

Voat is open source. The algos are open for anyone to read. If they're modified, it will be noticed, and there will be a lot of discussion.

Where can one find and audit these algorithms?
Citizen ago
Scroll down to the bottom of any voat.co page, and click on "source code".

Not if 'part' of the code becomes 'non open' but yeah I hear ya.

good point. as this is a forum and infinitely variable it would be very difficult to asses.
Broc_Lia ago
A good solution would be to hire a trustworthy intermediary like wikileaks of EFF to audit them.

This shit makes so little sense I'm starting to think you're a bot.
k_digi ago
How very 'reddit' of you for saying so : D ty.
Zodi ago
You start off by saying NSA will convince investors to get devs to hide up/downvotes.
Then you go on to say "algorithms worked to stop them before, this is a good thing"
You're wrong on both counts.

Not even a link to pretend i read?
