Most mainstream media websites no longer have comment sections (Conspiracy)

I've been noticing this a lot lately, this seems a fairly recent development, a lot of mainstream media sites, including regional newspapers no longer allow comments. I'm assuming this is to suppress support for Trump or other alternative viewpoints since they don't want people challenging their narratives? Just curious what others think

Some of them still allow Disqus (e.g. ABC News which is arguably the worst of the worst) but those are disappearing..
