Freedom of speech is the foundation of a healthy society, One does not have to agree with what is said, in its content, context or meaning. Strangling the ability to voice ones opinion is detrimental to the values of a vibrant discourse of ideas.
It takes a brave soul confident soul to have an opinion and an even braver one to voice it.
Freedom of Speech scares many because of pre conceived ideas or ideals. Many will deride those brave enough to stand up and say something, yet will be at a loss when asked to voice their own opinion.
There are some that seem to delight in down voating others just for the sake of the action a down voat. They lose out in the long run a down voat last one tenth of a second, but the loss of fresh ideas may be lost forever and everyone losses out.

The logical end of "The Drama" of The Exodus is absolute freedom - to kill someone because you don't like how they look or sound, or what you think they think. Absolute freedom looks scary to me.
