I used to, but now I’ve evolved to not even starting to type the comment. My favorite places to comment are in abstract discussions where I can talk to other smart people about challenging topics that people I talk to irl find too boring. 9 out of 10 times, I learn something huge while typing the comment. I’ll either answer my own question or realize that my answer to someone else’s question isn’t based on evidence, and find myself looking stuff up. Some posts or comments can take me over an hour to write. It’s really surprising just how much you can learn from writing, even to yourself in a plain text document.
