I'm a lurker and I'm trying to be a better participator so I'm signing in to contribute but I keep finding myself signed out again and it's annoying. My browser is Firefox. What might be the problem?

I know, some of us receive gifts, though. The last time I had a pc was 2009 and it was suddenly bricked by ransomeware which was beyond infuriating and at least hasn't happened again since I've been Mac, which, btw, have all been hand-me-downs. My dad was one of the guys writing COBOL back in the days when computers filled a room, so I have some innate ability but frankly I'm overwhelmed by Linux and don't know what it would take to get up to speed, let alone who to consult when I hit a roadblock while in the middle of trying to get shit done. These are my feeble excuses.
