Voat always felt like the old internet, before the normalfags, social media, real name bullshit, etc. I thought that was gone forever, but this place give me hope. People still want that internet back, where you can say nigger and call people fags without having it destroy your career.
Yeah. Remember AOL chat rooms? AOL discs were EVERYWHERE. Power Tools? You could have tabs in IM with it. Punting programs to kick assholes offline via IM? Then busy servers until midnight so couldn't get back on? I had an IP service so TCP/IP connection to AOL was instantaneous, back online and then punted the offender who punted me, who in turn, would not be back that evening. Massive scripts of different symbols/letters making pictures? We were doing meetups with girls from the area and getting laid. I loved the internet then. It took some serious cash to get a computer, so it was largely a whites-only endeavor. Good times indeed!
fuck yeah I miss those days. People were savage bullies too. And most people could take it and give it just as good. Now you spend your time on the internet being scared you're going to be banned for saying the wrong thing.

I was too young to really score much on the old web. My generation got fucked out of that experience
