From what I understand, some (((publishers))) are getting together to sue archive.org because archive.org has allowed users to publish works which have been copyrighted by said (((publishers)))...or something like that. It seems that archive.org is now going to have to pay up, and if they can't, the site might be shutdown. Oy vey!
Maybe nothing will come of this, but in either case, now might be a good time to make a backup of your favorite things and save it all offline.

The past is being swept away. I fully expect Project Gutenberg to be taken down at some point. It gives people free access to a lot of old books full of banned ideas.
