A lot of people are asking, so I'm going to copy-paste the same reply to them all.
Something happened. Our web dev guy took the site down and deleted the source code. It took me forever to get an update out of him, and he won't discuss any details. I believe he got a visit from the FBI or local law enforcement. He's being way too cagey about the whole thing, more reluctant to discuss it than I consider normal from this person. He'd tell me if it were any other reason. I believe he's under legal pressure not to discuss it. I feel bad for him.
So, we got on the news twice, we made a lot of people very very angry, and we showed the world that there are still people who don't subscribe to the Gospel of Diversity. I feel like we accomplished our goals. I'm sad the site died, but I'm glad my friend wasn't disappeared into an FBI black site. Someone else may take up the Coalfax mantle now. Our cause will never die.
Thank you to everyone who submitted coalburners and supported us. We, the silent majority, still exist.

I doubt it was the feds, someone has dirt on him.

Don't need dirt, they simply have to threaten to cut off your means to conduct your life, such as closing out your bank accounts, cancelling your credit card, payment processors refusing to do business with you... the list goes on.
All it would take is a call from one of the aforementioned to inquire about his affiliation with the site and to notify him that he's under review for violation of the terms of service to send the message.

When they control everything....they control everything

Fits nicely with, the most dangerous man is he who has nothing left to lose

But to destroy a thing is to control a thing.

I still really think it was someone that was posted to the site.

Oh, I have no doubt that at least one of them ran crying to daddy to sic his lawyer on the mean site's host/registrar for violating the terms of service for harassment.
Still, for the dev to just ghost like that says to me it was something more sinister.

What "terms of service for harrassment?" That's word salad.
That's not what I meant, I meant someone like me ringing their doorbell and outting a weapon in their face.
La_Chalupacabra ago
It's meant to be ambiguous so they have wiggle room to pilpul in the off chance you actually challenge it in a court of law.
Ah, thanks for the clarification.
That's not outside the realm of possibilities.
I guess it beats getting swatted or full-on doxxed, though.
Still sucks nonetheless.

No, it's word salad from someone who does not understand law.
