This reminds me of a travel show I saw on public television. It consisted of a single, thin blonde haired woman who was visiting Afghanistan and Pakistan for vacation. The way the show was depicted you never see the camera crew or the security entourage that safeguards the blond woman. Instead it conveys the impression that a young single woman can have fun vacationing in these areas and that it makes for a fun unique vacation experience. When you see the woman surrounded by a sea of brown faces all of which belong to men, none of which are women, it should serve as warning: women are not supposed to be in public by themselves in these villages. It is seen as inappropriate and the blonde American woman is making a spectacle of herself.

Strangely enough, the lady friend with whom I was watching the show did not immediately grasp the implications of a public space where you see 100's of men and exactly zero women -- not even veiled women walking around with their husbands. It may surprise you, but there are women who know so little about alien cultures that they literally assume there is nothing inherently unsafe or even unusual about a young single woman walking around in a space of 100's of men and no women whatsoever. They really are that brainwashed and that stupid.
