It's a white trash area that's been gentrified a little because there's a major hospital there and loads of medical workers live there. There's a dole office close to the hospital, and I think probably some addict outpatient clinics, but yeah, very very white area. It's not the sort of place you see non-white street types/ gangs because that isn't their patch, they're more down past St Pauls, closer into the city.
If you have ever seen the old show Little Britain, you're looking at classic Vicky Pollard types. I will bet you a tenner that your suspects answer to the following description:
1) White teenagers with fetal alcohol syndrome
2) Wearing tracksuits and trainers, plus tacky gold jewelry
3) Will have had a shitty soundtrack blasting from a shitty wireless speaker
4) Have probably consumed one of the following in the last few hours: a) cheap, high alcohol cider, b) chips, c) spice d) possibly a bit of meth
5) Will be known to the local police already, and will probably be arrested in the next couple of days, after trying to hide out at their nans.

No it isn't. I think you overestimate how many hardline muslems there actually are. Is sharia law an issue? Definitely. Is it widespread? No, it mostly only rears its head in self-seggregated communities, and aside from some old men yelling at girls in short skirts, it's mostly confined to those areas. The majority of the UK is still very white. The whole sharia law thing is grossly exaggerated. It's definitely a problem, and it definitely needs stamping out, but don't go thinking it extends beyond a few backwards enclaves. It's not like all people of muslem heritage (i say heritage because loads of people whose parents were religious are just as secular as an ex-christian) follow this - it's just a few controlling nutbags.
