It's possible, but not particularly likely, that someone is paying for it because they don't know/don't care. I can't tell you how many medium to large companies I've seen paying thousands per month for empty servers or servers that someone had an abandoned project running on. Many had been paying for years.
Laughable that a site like Voat with "Free Speech" that allows people to make outright illegal threats of violence wouldn't attract law enforcement attention and would just be sitting idle in some data center without the FBI paying the location a visit.
You'd be surprised. Visit your local PD and ask why they havn't arrested the drug dealers or illegals everyone in town knows about. Often they'll legitimately have never had a complaint filed. Also I've been on voat for years and never anything illegal.
