I like this whole idea: getting motivated to start is the hardest part; 1 tends to lead to more once the ball is rolling.
If someone is struggling to do a pull-up, or if someone really wants to "burn out" after their sets: concentrate on the "negative" pull-up.
Jump to the top of the pull-up, then lower yourself as slow as possible, until you just can't do it any more.
you will be surprised how quickly this helps you improve.
Also, if you do over-hand pull-ups with a close grip it will concentrate on your biceps.
Use a door if you need to--cushion your hands by laying a towel over the top.
ps.I generally don't like to "plug" comercial stuff, but I learned those techniques from a book called "You Are Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren--pretty good stuff for body weight excersises.
pps. I forgot what sub I was seeing this stuff on.

The human body is the only machine that improves the more its used. Happy Workout Goats.

I hope this is the start of something. I already exersize but it'd be cool if in a month, that voat would be pushing people to do 40 pushups

Great advice. And if anyone can easily do a few pull-ups and wants to bump your numbers up, try density training. Copy and paste of the program below: Created by a former S&C coach at Wake Forest.
Easy is in bold because that's important. Easy = you can do all required sets and reps without being out of breath or struggling on form or straining to accomplish the last sets. So make sure it's easy before you move on.

If your gym has pull up machines where you can add weights to them to help spot you, I recommend using those as well. You basically just do your max, add a little weight that pushes you up by the knees, do your new max with assistance, and keep going. Really good way to improve without another person holding your legs.

Excellent advice.
The posts are on v/theredpill. Join in TODAY, it's not a big deal. Just ONE pullup and pushup....

Get some gymnastic rings. Only equipment you will ever need. Great body. Great strength. Healthy joints and posture. No gyms, no gym memberships, no grunting, meathead gym bros.

There are exercises you do to get physically stronger, and exercises you do to get mentally stronger. I recommend and low, easy number every day, but one that you'll do every day. It's more about training your mentality than your body.
Separately, you train to get stronger. That's something else.

A simple resistance band helps a lot with pull ups. I can do 8 pull ups without them (real ones, not crossfit ones) but I will still use the band to even out the resistance.

Correction: under hand, although studies say they both work the biceps better than curls

--I was actually specifically referencing over hand w/ close grip, per the mentioned source
