This is, I believe, the most important point made in meditations. Be your own guide through life, relying on only your own judgement, but at the same time be open to change your opinion when presented with superior logic. This is the exact opposite of what our society as a whole has been doing since about the 20's or so. Instead, people have become blind sheep following one of only a few extremelyflawed ideologies.

This quote makes me think of arguing with commies (I actually work with a guy that is an admitted communist). They seem to believe in it because it appears pleasant, but it clearly isn't good for the public as millions die when communism is installed. They refuse to accept that government control leads to suffering on a massive scale.
