Idk if splintered from Voat is accurate. I’m still here. The downtime issues last year helped motivate me to build out nab but the idea of a decentralized Reddit alternative is something I’ve had for a while.
Any person in charge has the potential to do what Reddit did and flip from supporting free speech to being an active enemy of it, so IMO the key is to reduce the power any individual has over such a network.
Nab was never meant to be an indictment of Voat in any way, and my hope is that in time technology might unify these disparate alternatives into a single decentralized system where information and speech flow freely and are difficult or impossible for any single entity to censor.
