We won't be censoring people. You will still be able to express any opinion for which you please, there will just be a few minor changes to the language we tolerate. We're trying to expand and pull in some sponsors so we're going to have to tow the line a little bit more. Definitely not censorship though you don't need to worry about that.

Hmm. "Language we tolerate" sounds like censorship. If free speech is not 100% absolute then it's not really free. I will reserve judgement until the new rules are posted because I've always trusted @atko and @puttitout. I don't believe I use the language to which you may be referring, but I use it as a litmus test for speech freedom. If speech freedom is not 100% absolute, then it's not free. If some language is intolerable, and thus censored, then... If the worst of the worst language is not 100% defended, then the slope gets more and more slippery as to what is tolerated. Sponsors who fear 100% speech freedom seem to be antithetical to the principal. I understand I'm only presenting problems and not solutions, but it's important to me to share my worries as they arise and at just such a crucial time in history. Voat exists, to my knowledge, as the lone free speech forum of this type. Many entities fear this freedom and will stop at nothing to curb it. I hope you can respect that even the suggestion of censorship for any reason is unsettling. Again, I'll reserve my judgement until Jan 2, but am preparing to be disappointed.

@GhostSkin and @puttitout appreciate your concern. Ideas and opinions will never be censored here, you can rest assured of that. Some minor changes will be taking place as far as the language we allow to express these opinions, however, you will absolutely still be allowed to express any opinion for which you choose. We are going to have to break from Voat tradition and follow a more Reddit like game plan in order to grow our platform and attract some real sponsorship. By doing so many positive changes will be taking place and the positives will far outweigh the negatives. We have a plan, please trust us. Especially due to this response but m willing to hold out hope that this is a LARP, but short of Jim Rockfording your acct like @crensch to see if you're likely yanking my crank I'll just clarify. If voat announces any level of censorship there is no reason for me to stay, and no way I would uphold it as a moderator. Thus, here's to hoping you're having me on cause I'm not looking forward to bidding farewell.

We really do appreciate your concerns but please understand there will be no censorship. No ideas, thoughts or suggestions will ever be censored. We are making modifications to the type of language we allow for example, nigger or kike will no longer be acceptable language under the new forum rules. You will however be able to express any opinion as long as it does not violate our terms. Hopefully you can understand why this is necessary in order for us to continue our existence and promote growth. Again, there will be no censorship.

You keep saying no censorship while explaining what languange you intend to censor. Hopefully you can understand that as long as any language is disallowed, the speech is not 100% free. If some speech is allowed to be censored today there is no guarantee that further speech won't be disallowed tomorrow. Free speech is binary. There is no shade of gray that can still be called free speech. When it is decided that some language is unwelcome, even those of us who would never use such extreme words can see which way the wind is blowing. I will in the meantime be seeking out a 3rd party Erasure script to ensure that none of my contributions aid the love of money over freedom of speech. I've been a daily voaters for several years and know that there have been multiple ways for voat to monitize without succumbing to censorship. I know @puttitout isn't lazy so to me this smacks of something far more nefarious. Still, I intend to wait until Jan 2 and see the new rules for myself before passing judgement. If even those two hideous words are disallowed, there is no place for me in your new safe space. I know that I am not alone. I'm also not surprised as it was predicted and the many who agree have already surmised as much. It's not a miracle, it's a farce. And I won't be a part of it. Good day sir or madam
