And yet, even though it leads to financial burden and sometimes a drastic drop in quality of life, men are just as willing to whore themselves out. Use protection and this system that"incentivizes slutty behavior" won't matter. If you can't look out for yourself, don't expect someone else to. The legal protections were meant for women who were good housewives and stayed home with their children, and the husband either cheated/divorced or was abusive. In those cases, a woman wouldn't have the work experience to be able to earn enough to support herself and children. Just because some take advantage of the system doesn't mean that there aren't any who actually need what protections it offers. I personally know three house wives who have gone through this in the last five years. One's husband thought it was ok for him to have a mistress because his family had food, clothes, and a house. Bragged about it on Reddit. Another was stationed in the Philippines and wanted to actually bring his mistress back, expecting the wife to be ok with it because she had a terrible, poor life! And the last was a cliche secretary at work thing. All three of these women were great cooks believed in the traditional family. Two of them I know had an active sex life, I don't know the specifics of the third. So yea, leave the laws the way they are, but take each situation into account. In no way should a one night stand be viewed the same as a decade+ of marriage.
