Sorry. For all of human history there was no government mandated "age of consent". When they created one it was set at 13. Then it went to 14. And now is 16 in a very large number of states. 18 in the rest. Only because they can't figure a way to make it 35.

18 is an obscene age. 16 is probably a good number. If you can drive a car you can decide if you want to have sex or not. 13 seems too young to me. I have no real problem with 15 though.

One of the many huge payoffs for making it 16 would be that evil little theocrats could no longer send young men and women to the sexual predator list for sending topless photos of their own 17 year old body to their partner.

In at least some parts of the U.S., there is no lower age limit for driving farm tractors for agricultural purposes.
