In this post the mentioned bug was reported and it was suggested that this only affected smaller subs. This is definitely not the case. /v/technology is a very active sub, yet go check the hotlist:
- #6 +4, 5 days old
- #10 +4, month old
- #12 +3, 26 days old
- #87 +24, 18 hours old (that is the 12th post on the 3rd page, this submission)
The reason I'm resubmitting this is because I was able to get some degree of evidence of this destroying submissions. I made this submission which was more or less dead on arrival, sitting at +2 after 3 days. Yet simply mentioning that submission in another thread here resulted in a comment on +11 (and several upvotes for the submission as well) since that comment was made in a thread that actually managed to get sorted properly, somehow.
This bug is absolutely hurting the core functionality of Voat. @PuttItOut @Atko Until a fix can be created, I would make a suggestion of changing the default sorting algorithm to be top/1 day. It gives a far better representation of the site. On my front page with top/1 day, the final post is a 2.1 hour old post on +10. Sorted by 'hot', I have posts including a month old post on +8 and a 17 day old post on +4. I think this fix would go without a single complaint, and do nothing but improve Voat. As is the 'hot' sort order right now is misrepresenting the activity and breadth of content available here.

I fully agree with you but this is a rather simply complex issue based on how Voat works right now.
It needs to be fixed and will be.
In the Core port I am constantly looking at this with the intention to fix this by the time the Core port goes live.
I will look into your suggestion this week as we can do it.

Okay, great. I'm glad to hear you're taking the issue seriously. The last thread gave me the impression that you felt it was not a significant issue.

why are you still working on a site everyone's leaving? you're pumping in paid posts without informing the userbase, and shills are 70% of all content on the site.

I have this problem a lot on v/all. Very infuriating.
