Votes given sometimes take 10-15 mins to apply. Is this a thing with an easy fix or a cost saving measure? (voatdev)

It may be shallow but I imagine a lot of people feel validated by votes and it increases their desire to participate and tht he reverse is true as well.

It's called "query cache" or "cache querying". If you ask Voat for the same thing you asked for shortly before, it remembers what it gave as answer and sends you that. It's a measure to lower server load and therefore costs.

It doesn't happen on all post though so that doesn't add up IMO it seems to only happen with more politically hot topics.

Somewhat related: New posts appearing in /v/all/new can sometimes be there within seconds of being posted or take 5 minutes to show up.
