We will probably never know the truth of this. Was the base empty and if so why. Some say as you do here that the US was already packed up and moving out with only some residual equipment left behind. Could be the US knew in advance what the targets were as Tehran informed Baghdad verbally before the attack. Such comms are monitored by DI as well as probably CIA and NSA. So anything sent to Baghdad was intercepted. Were the troops quickly relocated to safe areas? Were the F-16s sent up for show or as a just in case Tehran's targeting equipment was substandard and lives were in danger? On the other hand Israel reported in the midst of all that happened last night that Iranian war birds launched as well. Maybe the F-16s were sent to keep them in Iranian airspace. Regardless of what news has come out, most of which is speculation in the first moments of the attack, this entire incident appears to be more show than anything else. So what does Tehran gain? They save face and appear to stand up to the great Satan when in fact they wasted a few million in old ammo and end up with even more extreme economic sanctions. So it begs the question who got what out of this outside of the US and Iran. Well for one Russia does not have to step to face off with the US as they are an Iranian ally. Sanctions probably affect Iranian oil flow which helps Russia out with their energy situation. What about China, they get to keep getting a big chunk of their oil from Iran which they desperately need. Finally what did the US get out of it? Mostly a show of strong and accurate force with the taking out of Suleimani along with a serious crippling of terrorist activity while showing both Russian and China that the US can and will take action when provoked but they are not just a bunch of craze war hawks and that communication and deals work better for everyone concerned.

Same thoughts here. I live near a large military base in US and nothing new is detected here. I'm thinking if this was more than theater then there would be movement. Like large scale movement. A lot of this stands out as odd to me.

Iran had to do something for domestic consumption, or face fallout from military and hardliners loyal to Soleimani. AND how great would it be to hve the NATO partners condemn Trump? So Iran launched this 'attack' on American's and American assets, expecting a swift counter punch by Trump. Trump waited for reports from Al Asad and Ebril, and when he found out the damage report did not include casualties, he didn't respond with carpet bombing Iran. Remember, Iran doesn't care about their people, but they would be very happy to be able to grab CNN's microphone to condemn the evil America and her President for the war crimes committed!

Although it’s only a small possibility there is also the geological reports showing a large earthquake in S Iran...

Cent 1: Since POTUS is waiting until tomorrow to comment on this, how disastrous could it be? He usually is immediately there to comment on any disaster that occurs relating to the US or it's citizens.

Cent 2: Perhaps, like in Old Cowboy movie shootouts, one strategy is to get the villain to use up as much of their ammunition as possible and perhaps even run out of bullets, before counter assault against. We know Iran has got to be hurting financially from the sanctions and those missiles are expensive. Is Iran that dumb to fire off a dozen or so missiles like a scatter-shot, at at an army base that is void of American presence?

I've been listening to many experts regarding the target choice and they seem to believe it may be an intentional miss based on not only the choice of target but the choice of weaponry. Ballistic missilles sound bad but they aren't so much. There was a slight risk of hitting personnel, if personnel were even present, and as you say they might not have been present. They are an honor culture so they have to save face. You are probably correct that something else is taking place. Having said that, I am hopeful that this is the end of this. Selfishly , I won't so desperately to see this stop here so I can watch the left, left with their mouths open is shock and awe that what they so hoped for did not happen. They want this to escalate so they can start the narrative that President Trump is unhinged, they want to all get worked up and breathless , sounding the alarm bell that our president is starting a war to deflect from impeachment and save his political career! We know how absurd this is of course. However; they will say it in tandem across the fake news media and they will put it out there and I just want to deny them this opportunity . This is a."huge" air base" in the middle of nowhere, but strategically located. Iran has to get lucky to hit it with their current tech. This site is the number one military site in the region. We own it, and they can't have it.

Pompeo and other officials left the White House. No American casualties so far. Seems like this was a "save-face" attack by Iran. Probably short lived.

Another anomaly is this "the missiles were launched from Iran" - if it's true then they have a long way to travel, enough time to hide in bunkers. Iran has no bunker busting missiles, they could not expect to kill Americans. Will there be an "answer" like in Syria, hitting some empty buildings with hundreds of cruise missiles? It's like watching a movie ...

Agreed...a high ranking military contact of Hannity's says that all of the missiles likely didn't hit their target. Hannity said that this could not be by mistake.
