To those new to Voat:

This will be a bit Tolstoy in length as I want to give some history of the World Wide Web, some human behavior and hopefully clear some things. I have had a Voat account for a while now, and only have been a lurker here until now.

I was building websites from 1994-2001, was lucky to meet a few of the University of Illinois Champagne guys who built the original Mosaic web browser and backend servers.

At age 50 now, I have seen a lot of changes online. Before the web, there were Usenet groups, online buliten boards, CompuServe...

I have seen a few major migrations when websites tried to change things around. Best example was Digg. They changed the way their entire system worked and that created a major backlash. Most people immediately left and went to Reddit.

Reddit was not very kind to the newcomers. Sort of how they still make fun of 9gag.

I found 4chan when it was in its infancy. Was a bit blown away by a lot of the “content”.

People will act very differently when they have anonymity than in a public setting.

Tribalism is very real in populations both online and in real life.

Cultures of each online area of all I have mentioned are/were different than the others.

Sites like Voat, 4Chan & 8Chan are as free speech as can be, like it or not.

Personally, I am not a fan of the derogatory name calling. I do not need that to have power.

I have tough skin, so the names I know I may be called will not affect me.

Expect a good month or three of tribalism warfare here to any and all who came from Reddit.

To those here who are long standing members of Voat, please know we are actually all on the same side.

Does it really truly matter that there are multiple areas to research and discuss Q?

Are the moderators from Reddit a true threat to the rest of this site?

We all have a much bigger threat in common. The Deep State/Cabal/Shadow Government.

We were in the same side since before you came here and this was not because of you or the other simple users but the moderators . Voats hates bans , we have endured hordes of spammers ( in case you have seen the ad Amalek was a user here with like 1000 nonsense posts per day ) because of that .

It is not of our culture to harass newcomers since everyone here is relatively new .

Expect a good month or three of tribalism warfare here to any and all who came from Reddit.

Not going to happen , MDE folk integrated just fine , there are zero bans and zero removed submissions in their log . Voat has a simple rule : no censorship , if your mods abide to this rule the sub can flourish and thousands of goats will subscribe and contribute .
