Well that didn't take long. I guess it's pretty much what Q predicted. Thank you for all your hard work; it's too bad not even a little corner of Voat could be hospitable for those that don't think using pejoratives is free speech.

Rainy-Day-Dream ago

pejoratives are protected by the first amendment, there was literally a court case on this as early as last year. Look up matal v. tam "hate speech" is free speech you communist faggot

finessa ago

I never said that it wasn't covered by the first amendment, I merely see it, as it is gratuitously used at Voat, as a sign of immaturity which adds nothing to the conversation. Have a good day Rainy-Day.

You just got kicked off your old forum because of people who love to police "hate speech"... and now you are complaining that the new place doesn't police language.

Are you sure you are tall enough to ride the Q ride? There's going to be a lot worse things that you will hear before this is all over, and they will be coming from Q himself.

You're probably right. I just think it is unnecessary to create a hostile atmosphere for no good reason other than to harass newcomers. I'm not a mod; I haven't banned anyone and don't know what has been banned or why. But it sure has given Voat veterans something to do. 8 chan is probably worse when you step out of their conventions; I guess you just expect it over there. Sigh, it seems so unnecessary.

All mod activity is visible on voat. They can't hide it like on reddit:

https://voat.co/v/theawakening/about/log/comment

https://voat.co/v/theawakening/about/log/submission

https://voat.co/v/theawakening/about/log/banned

That's what free speech looks like. And if you go to some other forums, you will see that almost uniformly, the only thing being removed is spam.

Thank you for helping us learn the ropes. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, all I know is we had a nice thriving community and we were booted out. The mods here are the same as over there where it was working for us, that's why a lot of us just followed their lead. Maybe they didn't understand what was expected of them over here. Figuring out what to do next is tricky. No one wants to cause problems for Voat.

everlastingphelps ago

You are assuming that they were working for you. You have no way of knowing what they were really doing.

Here, the logs are open, and you can watch the watchers.

good point.

Rainy-Day-Dream ago

it's filters out retards who don't actually believe in the first amendment

finessa ago

I think I see how you are using it as a filter, a tool, it's just really distracting to a lot of people who only want to talk about what they came here for with others on the same wave length. Too bad Voat is so hostile to that. To me the important first amendment issues are more to do with "will we be silenced for talking about our political ideas" (as happened at Reddit and is happening on Twitter, FB and YT) not how many dirty words we can get away with. I really do wish you well; we probably don't belong here.

Rainy-Day-Dream ago

meh we'll leave you alone when you stop acting like redditors, v/greatawakening does the whole Q thing and their mostly left alone because they don't act like redditors who need a heavily moderated safespace

finessa ago

It'll take awhile for the Reddit to wear off I imagine. I hope most of us will try. If it helps we are all mighty pissed at Reddit and big tech in general.

Rainy-Day-Dream ago

then you need to stop acting like them, reddit/twitter/facebook/etc. all share in common with your mods that they ban and censor people for saying things they don't like. Mods are just janitors meant to clean up the spam the voting system is in place so the users can dictate what kind of content they want to see on their own
