I still find 8chan hugely difficult to understand/navigate. I'm trying but very lost there. This type of board format is so much easier to navigate.

let me help! The biggest mistake most newcomers to a chan make is not using the catalog feature to navigate. ALWAYS use the catalog! Here's a link to the catalog of the 8ch qreseach board: https://8ch.net/qresearch/catalog.html

once you know that trick, using a chan is a lot like using Pinterest

Do all topics end up getting cataloged then even if no image ever posted? I guess I made wrong assumption that it was more like a gallery of just images from topics.

all new threads go on the catalog. A chan is an image board so you HAVE to post an image if you want to make a new thread. There is room for about 100 threads on an imageboard, but the way Qoomers use 8chan is most people post in one thread until it hits its comment limit (751) then they just start a new thread.

Thanks for the 411!

Thank you, I'm sure I'll get it! Just so different than anything else!

The constant refresh and slow load times make 8ch unusable half the time... The search function is completely unusable!

I get the same - every 10 seconds the page finds new posts and freezes the whole computer. So I have given up on live pages and just follow the pages that are historic and reached 751 posts.

The trick seems to be to check ot the notables from time to time. Or hope someone who finds anything significant or worthwhile puts it on twitter, in a youtube or on a blog somewhere and it eventually finds its way to you.

Chans are definitely not user friendly imho

The notables are only 10% useful when you need to long-press a link for half a minute and your device freezes half the time.
