Hey there lads, sorry for all my niggardly questions about tech. I'm pretty useless when it comes to computers. Try to be a capable man not a leech, and contribute lots more to my favorite site. In fact, I'm planning a big series of instructional video tutorials on homesteading skills, accompanied by my library documents of how our ancestors used to thrive, plus tips from modern folks on adjusting to what is no longer available etc.
But in the case of tech, I'm sadly a leech on you kind folks! Could anyone please help me out with how to download from bitchute? I tried reading up and it seems like the site doesn't use normal video embedding? Its a torrent maybe? Can anyone confirm if I'm on the right track there? How would one go about getting them for offline viewing? Going off the grid one day is the goal but I want a collection of music, redpills, entertainment, and skill tutorials to entertain and teach myself and my kids!
I've always been wary of torrents, its probably irrational but it scares me since I don't understand much. Rather than being on the sites server, its on peers computers and you download it from those seeders, and that also scares since they could give viruses. Is there a safe way to do this? Sorry for being illiterate with this stuff! I will return the favor of any help with my skill videos to come and access to my cache of data! Cheers lads!

Don't use bitchute. It's another feckless advocate for WebRTC. They don't use real, safe torrents. They use a bitched-up abomination called "WebTorrents", that exposes you to WebRTC.
WebRTC is run by Google, Microsoft, and their ilk, to prevent privacy an anonymity. WebRtc exposes your desktop to other clients and servers, and it de-anonymize you even behind a proxy.
Again: Your proxy is useless if you use WebRtc, which is what WebTorrents are, which is what Bitchute is.

Don't get an irrational fear of torrents. No file can get automatically downloaded without your permission, even if you connect to other people's computers. They can't send you unwanted shit because if they do your client will reject it since that data won't match the signature (hash) of the files you're trying to download.
That said, Bitchute doesn't use regular torrents. It uses Webtorrents and you can't use regular torrent clients (like qBittorrent) to download them. Support for webtorrents will take a while (years) to get implemented in most applications. The Brave browser supports them.

WebTorrents are just torrents with WebRtc cancer. Don't support or use that shit. You have no control over what WebRtc does on your computer. It was designed to facilitate screensharing, audio sharing, etc. It can see your desktop, it can hear your system audio, etc. You can't control it.
Even a proxy won't help you, because WebRtc includes its own routing/discovery layer. It sends its own STUN requests to kick off its own routing chain. Most of its traffic won't show up in the network tab of your browser. It was designed to prevent a proxy form protecting your identity.
Don't use WebRtc. Don't use WebTorrents. Don't use Brace. Don't use Bitchute.

if you're on windows and afraid of the command line you can use youtube-dl-gui to get vids from various sites.

Use an add-on named Video Download Helper for Firefox (Use Waterfox instead).
wanderingblade ago
When I went to the site, its for firefox and there isn't a download button, where it would normally be instead just tries to download firefox instead. Is there an alternate place to download other than the firefox ad on page? Or do I need to do it through firefox then somehow get it on my real browser?
Plutonium_Nyborg ago
It is an add-on for Firefox. Waterfox is a fork of Firefox without all of the crap.
There is a Chrome version, but I don't use Chrome. I'm sure it is the same.
Those are the only browsers supported.
You can install Waterfox, install the add-on and only use it to download Bitchute videos.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I use waterfox, but the page for the ad on has a download button but it won't download unless I first download firefox

Link to Add-On page for Firefox/Waterfox
You should be able to download from the link above, it goes straight to the Add-On page. Waterfox should be able to use the Add-On, if not let me know and we can find another way to get it.
Once installed make sure you change the download directory in the settings, the default one is kinda hard to find.

Is it telling you that your version of Firefox is no longer supported (or some such)?
If so, you can scroll down the page and click the see all versions link on the left to find an older, compatible version, otherwise, find the homepage link and install it from there (disclaimer: I cannot personally vouch for that site, even though it's linked to the official Mozilla page; use your judgement).
La_Chalupacabra ago
I've never tried it, but I've noticed there's a magnet link button in the rightmost portion of the bar directly below the video.
Alternatively, I've seen direct download links posted in the form of "https ://seed41.bitchute.com/JWa8508PdoWK/7xqSbHGgKM0e.mp4", which can be found if you open "View Page Source" and search for 'seed'.

This is the website that I sometimes use if I want to get a video from BitChute. https://www.tubeoffline.com/download-BitChute-videos.php
However, judging from their lack of funding, there's no telling if this service will stay alive for much longer.
I don't know much about torrenting either. However, there is supposed to be this thing like a checksum or hash or something, where you run an algorithm on the file you torrented, and it will give you a long string. The idea is that you can check this generated string against the string that a trusted source has. For an example of this, you can try torrenting an Ubuntu ISO. They should have a checksum so that you can verify that the file you torrented is the correct one.

That is the site I use, I did see a message on the site the other day about having to replace the server and not all the video sites would work, but bitchute was still one that did work. Glad I came here though, learned something new about the magnet links.

I've asked the Bitchute account this question multiple times in the past and it has been met with silence. I hope you have more success.

Bitchute doesn't use real torrents. It uses "WebTorrents" - a technology that allows streams to go on and off the torrents protocol, and use the WebRtc protocol when available.
Don't support or use that shit. You have no control over what WebRtc does on your computer. It was designed to facilitate screensharing, audio sharing, etc. It can see your desktop, it can hear your system audio, etc. You can't control it.
