Let me tell you something dude; civil war over ideals is a Western thing (and by extension, somewhat observed in South America, except the mestizos always seem to put in commies).

It is rare to see another culture commit civil war for the same reason. Civil war over power/money/gibs is an African thing. Civil war (and otherwise) to wipe out another ethnic group is Asian. Arabs do crazy shit all the time, but Iranians are Persian and you can only really sort them in with the rest of the Middle East along religious lines.

I am NOT saying the US should get involved. We shouldn’t. Fuck Iran and fuck the region. I don’t care if Israel glasses it’s neighbors, as long as it doesn’t pull us into the conflict or flood Europe with even more refugees. Of course, we don’t live in a world where we get to refuse consequences, so we can’t ignore what’s going on over there (because Europe will pick up the tab, even if America could somehow stay out of it).

That being said, I do not think we should get involved with Iran. If it’s people are going to let their fucking insane government continue to oppress them without taking any action themselves, there’s little we could do for them anyway. Nation building and regime change never ends well, because it’s done without the express desire of that country’s people. Unfortunately, the Iranian people would need to sort this out on their own.

Will they? Before Israel gets punchy and we can’t stop them from launching nukes? Probably not. And that sucks.
