You know, I read a book that was written a very long time ago that predicted something quite similar to this scenario. The difference is the vast majority of people end up getting their asses kicked, not just the inhabitants of Israel. :)
The places where numbers are given are in Revelation 6:7, 8, and 9:15, 18. The first reference indicates that 25% of the world’s population will die. The second mentions that 33% of the remaining population will die. That means over 50% of the world’s population will die, or at today’s numbers, 3.4 billion would remain. But, that is not all. There are other devastations that are not included in this number, and if the time was not cut short nothing would survive, not animals, not even bugs.

The silver lining is this is the point historically where they are about to get their assess kicked and this times it's the world.

I was referring to the end game, sheep vs. goats percentage. Although the rest of the happenings won't be pleasant, that's what really matters.
