I was atheist/agnostic and I know how you feel. Years ago I got into meditation/hallucinogens and new age spirituality to satisfy my curiosity. Long story short, I met a demon one night while in a trance and I could hear it talking to me in my mind. It went on for hours. I felt like I was in hell and it almost convinced me to kill myself to make the voices stop. That's when I tried praying to Jesus. It was like an atomic bomb went off. That demon fled from me immediately a wave of peace filled my spirit. My advice to you is just keep seeking Jesus and see what happens.
I'm good with this plan. I feel the same about any alliance with Pagans, Buddhists, Taoists, etc.. We all want to be left in peace, but they won't allow it.
