Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007,[17] where she won second prize in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on C. elegans' lifespan.[18] As a result, the International Astronomical Union named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[19][20] ... etc

The thing I have with her isn't so much her "Alex from the Bronx" story, it's the "MY MOM SCRUBBED TOILETS TO PROVIDE EVERYTHING FOR ME!!". The reality is her dad was an Architect (highly paid), bought a 150k house for them when she was 5 in a decent neighborhood so she could attend Yorktown HS, unfortunately died of cancer when she was a Soph. in University--but by then she already had internships with Senators, was making money, and her future was set (see link of summary of like 5 articles I posted). Like I said, she did well in HS and looked promising--look where she is today. It's not all dumb luck that gets you into office like that at such a young age.
