there's two things people can't handle. first is that they have no sense of humor the second is that they dont know what it's like to struggle

dude wasn't being funny, he was firing shots. but i don't follow his twitter so i don't know if he makes idiotic posts at people regularly (is a troll account). she reacted with the word "man-splaining" though ("look at this dumb man, eh, my fellow females?") when she should have just let the replies he picked up speak for themselves, or asked him what the "average" was 28 years ago pre-gentrification when she was child so he could educate her on the struggles her parents went through and she went through as a child.

He literally grew up in the next town over and is only a little older than her. She grew up rich and he knows it because her town was nicer than his and he grew up nice and went to an ivy league

While he may have gone to an Ivy League school(?) she apparently went to a public HS (Yorktown Heights), and a public U. (Boston University) unless you have records otherwise.

There are plenty of sources where she tells here story, but she has a primary theme:

https://www.thecut.com/2018/07/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-critics-house.html

...she leans heavily on the narrative of she and her mother living together while her mother's "scrubbing of toilets so she could live there" was the only thing that allowed them to afford the house (IIRC she also at some point mentions doing that herself. Cleaning houses is actually a decent way to make money and a lot of times most people will pay you in cash for it--no IRS):

"2. It is nice. Growing up, it was a good town for working people. My mom scrubbed toilets so I could live here & I grew up seeing how the zip code one is born in determines much of their opportunity."

I'm sure that's true. However, what she's leaving out is that her father was an Architect:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandria_Ocasio-Cortez

Her father, an architect of Puerto Rican descent, was born in the Bronx, while her mother was born in Puerto Rico.[14][15]

Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007,[17] where she won second prize in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on C. elegans' lifespan.[18] As a result, the International Astronomical Union named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[19][20] In high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University.

Her father passed while she was a sophomore and by then she was interning with a US Senator, so I'm not entirely sure this "My mom and I scrubbed toilets so we could live there!" story lines up. Him being a well paid Architect for many years also does not work into her "somos los pobres, cansados, y oprimidos".

Considering the platform she's running on I can understand why she would leave that bit out.

Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship.[21] In 2008, while Ocasio-Cortez was a sophomore at Boston University, her father died of lung cancer.[22][23] During college, she was an intern in the immigration office of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy.[24] She graduated cum laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in international relations and a minor in economics.[21][25][26]

Here is my favorite link:

https://www.lohud.com/story/news/politics/2018/07/02/ocasio-cortez-westchester/751333002/

Ocasio-Cortez was 2 years old when her father, Sergio Ocasio-Roman, bought a modest home in Yorktown for $150,000. The family lived in the Parkchester section of the Bronx at the time and moved to the house in Yorktown a few years later.

Again, her father was an Architect. This is not about her mother scrubbing toilets for them to get by (while yes, after his passing I'm sure things were not as easy--though as soon as you have dependents everyone should have a life insurance policy).

However, here's the real catch:

Westchester County land records show that Ocasio-Cortez was living there with her mother and brother in 2016 when they sold the home for $355,000.

If these public records are valid then her "mi so pobre" act is ENTIRELY horse-shit.

Or more than I paid for my pleasantly nice home in expensive as fuck Maryland on my software engineer salary.

her father, Sergio Ocasio-Roman, bought a modest home in Yorktown for $150,000

Adjusted for inflation that's around $320k-$350k

She didn't go ivy league because she is extremely low IQ. She went for foreign relations and economics yet knows literally nothing about either. You don't fucking study foreign relations and know nothing about Israel/Palestine and you don't fucking study economics and not know how unemployment is calculated.

Nice to see +1 on yours and -2 on mine.

My fan-club down-vote brigade is at it again today. If you all really want to suck me and fuck me with your pretty little vaginas just send me a private message and we'll meet up.

It couldn't be possible you are just retarded. I see you are a communist like AOC.

fluhthreeex ago

Did you even read what I typed or any of the links (I did)? You literally quoted an excerpt I replied to you with.

You added absolutely nothing to the conversation aside from maybe an estimate on the value of 150k in 1990 adjusted for inflation to the 2016 value.

Known troll is known.

Edit: Who the fuck is AOC?

You might need some echinacea because your brain is firing on 1 cylinder.
