That's prolly because the mods are Nazis. I've been trying to post in PG unsuccessfully since PG broke... Lol. Now I'm completely banned.

Thanks for taking a look - something was different. Maybe we'll get a definitive answer in the next few days.

  1. it has never happened before on this sub
  2. no one can upvoat, no new comments, so highly unlikely
  3. Mill Falcon said it was weird too
  4. Nobody went and looked en masse at over a dozen comments from a month ago enough to get them on the second page - Theory fails, but thanks for trying - meant btw lighthearted. It may just be a glitch. I pinged and put on pgmods subs for two hours before concluding something was "wrong" as anyway anyone else who saw it thought it was wrong too.

I remember having read something similar in a different sub, but I didn't save the link (wasn't aware about the topic then). So it might be site-wide.

I am now thinking it was someone going through a lot of older posts, it bumped them up to "Hot" on a night when there was almost no actual activity on the board. They could have been printing info, deleting or editing comments, or searching for something. Only the backend activity would really tell us.

Although 500 users were supposed to be here, it just doesn't add up, unless hundreds of people were lurking without commenting or posting. I was on the board and nothing was changing for hours, limited new posts and no upvotes or downvotes enough to change rankings, and then all the sudden 15-20 posts from a month ago start to show up at the bottom of the first page and all over the second page of hot.

So it seems to be evidence of some unusual kind of activity probably from multiple accounts acting in accord. The other coincidence that aeemed a little odd to me was there was no mod response for over 2 hours, including from pings from pizzagate mods. Someone taking advantage of a time when no one was looking? Anyway, just noted for the record in case it could be useful later, cause you never know.

I can only explain the latter: As mentioned in the sticky, we mods cannot always cover 24 hours, so no mod reply for 2 hours is not odd ;-)

So someone could have an army of bots and create traffic to old posts to flood the forum with old posts?

"hot"
