So I did some digging and the original source of this tale is our old fake news nemesis NeonNettle. A French hoax-busting site researched this and interviewed Les Echos, who pointed out the original story December 12, 2017 involved a screengrab of a December 20 Les Echos page, which was edited to feature the Culkin "interview". They forgot to change the article date, though, and hence their story appeared a week prior to the alleged Les Echos piece it was written about. Doh!

Once NeonNettle was called out for this fake news, they scrubbed the page. The hoaxbuster article does include a screencap of the NeonNettle page. No one apparently archived it.
