I wrote this to another forum but copy/pasta it in case it's of any interest to you:
From this page in French, I'm noting these amounts of money in the production. Not going to pay the cinefinances site to check the info (720 € is standard subscription for a year or 1,800 € for premium, no thanks I'm poor and have stopped watching TV and going to the cinema since pizzagate happened)
The movie "Cuties" has a budget of 3,4 millions € (seems average amount, in the low budget movies). The production company says it's their first feature film, they were specialized in short videos before that.
Dates are bonkers, they say the movie received in 2017 the Sundance award. Had to check with the Sundance site, they list it as year 2019, Directing Award: World Cinema Dramatic. When was that co-founder of Sundance arrested already? (rhetoric question)
The director Doucouré was paid 93,000 € (advance of 50,000 € and salary of 43,000 €), add 25,000 € for the script. They point it's above the median remuneration (copyrights+salary) of French directors that is about 80,000 €.
I wonder why for a first feature film, from a production company barely known to the public, they would pay above average amounts, even if they've received tons of awards in the past for their short films. I also noted the movie was pre-purchased by Canal + (I stopped watching Canal + long before pizzagate, consider them the ultra-liberal Harvey Weinstein not yet arrested from France), Multithématique (dunno) and France 3 (puking worthy, that's a public channel that's considered more local news and societal issues oriented, I believe it's the second public TV channel in importance).
Also in France, the median income for the standard worker is barely 25,000-30,000 €. I'm amazed how much an rather unknown director (except for the industry pros and niche viewers) is making for her first feature film on an obviously not-mainstream topic.
It says in January 2017, she's awarded the Global Filmmaking Award for "Cuties", sponsored for the event by African-American director Ava DuVernay.
https://www.lequotidien.sn/sundance-2017-maimouna-doucoure-a-nouveau-recompensee/ (Senegalese news in French, article dated February 3, 2017) Then logically, "Cuties" must have been ready by 2016 for it to be awarded at Sundance festival, 2017? When was that co-founder of Sundance arrested? (rhetorical question) But I find contradictory articles saying the movie was made in 2018. And why is the movie promoted as if it was awarded in 2019 or 2020, the Sundance site itself is confusing with the dates.
Fathia Youssouf was born August 1st, 2006. What the heck, when was this movie made, when were the girls auditioned, how old were they, really? The dates are completely bonkers.

Edit: I see where the 2017 Sundance award came from. On the French wiki page of Doucouré:
