Being at a party together doesn't mean they were close friends, but it certainly doesn't shock me to see that they ran in the same circles. Both of them are creepy elitist hags. I can't imagine Marina having anything as mundane as a "friend". But, perhaps they are indeed closely acquainted, and wouldn't that just figure?
