So I decided to dig a little into the surrounding area, particularly the East San Diego County area and Rancho Santa Fe, but also the county as a whole, and I think I found a few things that might be of interest.
Now, we know already that Solana Beach is a low-crime area with a lot of gated communities. The median income right now is about $105,000, which makes it one of the wealthiest places to live in the U.S., and Rancho Santa Fe, an area about 5 miles from Solana Beach, is practically an entire gated city, and right now is the #1 wealthiest area in the country.

Now, Rancho Santa Fe is interesting for several reasons:

    >they do not have mailboxes
    >the Heaven's Gate cult was based here
    >$100 million scam artists J. David Dominelli and Nancy Hoover lived there
    >Ian Spiro and his family were murdered there
    >Bill Gates owns a home there

Now, aside from Heaven's Gate, apparently there was a lot of other cults operating in the area.

There was also a high-profile Satanic Ritual abuse case that occurred in San Diego:

Now the case itself parallels in many ways the McMartin preschool case, where the defense claimed that the children's testimony was "coerced" by investigators. Former FBI chief Ted Gunderson revealed new evidence about the McMartin case that justifies a second look not only in the McMartin case, but other cases like it.

This is all just food for thought. I'm not saying that any of this is connected to John Marelli or his ranch, but I do find it interesting that the area is somewhat of a hotspot for cult activity and high-profile murders, as well as being an extremely wealthy area. Also Heaven's Gate owned a mansion in Rancho Santa Fe.
